Well Steve, there are exceptions to the rule,
The Lenexa, KS contest fills up to their limit of 185 teams a couple months before the contest is held and has a waiting list normally.
The total prize money is around $13K.
Here in town our little contest cuts off entries at 70 teams, but fills up fast and normally has a waiting list, the prize fund is like $5K.
