I guess we have a different interpretation of the poll, Rub.
I understand the desire to get back expenses, but you and the other poster suggest you need the money to enter more contests. To me, that's simply looking for a way to finance something you love, the same as digging up sponsors or catering the occasional party for cash.
When I read that poll I was thinking "I do it for the money" meant folks who were looking to make a profit off of competitive BBQ, not just break even, hence my response.
Just goes to show how hard it is to phrase polling questions so everyone is on the same page!
