Why do you think it would be harder to get a smoke flavor from a gas smoker? They use wood also. I actually have to be careful not to oversmoke the meat with my cooker as others using a gas cooker also know. There are a lot of good smokers out there whether they be gas pellet, or stick(charcoal). I did not mention electric because I have never cooked on one to know how they do. I would say that a lot of people have never cooked on a good gas smoker to know if they like it or not also.
